Find Your Winter Uniform

Here in Maine, winter has arrived. Per usual, Mother Nature brought cold temperatures and dark afternoons, what seems like, overnight. Although it happens every year, it still comes as a bit of a shock to the nervous system. The good news is, everyone is freaking out and calling me to help them get their winter wardrobe ready. I love it!

One consistent piece of advice I give to my clients is find your Winter uniform, and stick with it. Which basically means, find a look and fit that you like and put it on repeat. That does NOT mean wearing the same clothes everyday. That’s a major fashion no-no. What I mean is, you finally found a pair of pants that fit you like a glove. Get them in every color/wash. You found a style of top that flatters your figure, pallet and is complimentary to your beloved pants. Buy a few of them in different colors and patterns.

My winter uniform consists of a slim-fitting, long sleeve printed top. A pair of Express Skyscraper Jeans and pointed toe booties. The fit is flattering to my body, stylish and comfortable enough to wear all day and into night. I have the jeans in (don’t judge me) 5 washes. They fit like a mid rise skinny, but have a little kick flare at the bottom, which keeps them modern. A pointed toe bootie elongates the leg and the block heels make them so sturdy, I can even navigate Warf Street. A slim-fitting, long sleeve top gives the look some interest, keeps me covered, but also fits perfectly (no bulk with this look) under my winter coats. And yes, we need a coat in November.

If you haven’t read my article in the Portland Press Herald about coats, you totally should: https://www.pressherald.com/?p=7518014&uuid=undefined&lid=undefined

My winter uniform will be on repeat. The ease of knowing exactly what to wear and having the confidence to know you look put together and it is functional, is priceless. Comment below what your Winter uniform is.
